Don't suffer in silence

Hearing loss can effect everyone

One in five adults in the UK suffer with hearing loss and that number is set to rise. Whilst many of us get our eyes tested and our teeth checked regularly, our hearing is often overlooked.

With an increasingly ageing population, exposure to loud noise - such as music, traffic and heavy machinery and the misuse of products such as cotton buds, the demand for ear and hearing healthcare services is growing.

To make matters worse, many GP's are no longer offering wax removal services. As a result,  patients are often left waiting for several weeks, if not months to recieve the treatment they need - often in pain and discomfort.

Hearing loss is linked to a poorer quality of life, socialisolation and increased risk of falls. It is also the single most modifiable risk factor for the prevention of dementia.

Fully qualified and insured Ear Health Care & Foot Health Professional.

I provide home visiting foot care & ear Health Checks, wax removal using Microsuction & Hearing Screening. I hold an up to date emergency first aid certificate and am DBS checked.

I have been providing home visiting foot care for many years and subsequently, have become aware of the lack of provision for ear wax removal (syringing) within GP practices.  Ear syringing, with its risks, has now been replaced with micro suction as the gold standard for ear wax removal recommended by healthcare professionals.

This led me to undertake training to gain a qualification which enables me to offer ear healthcare in a clients own home.

Following, much research, I chose Tympa Health to attain my qualification. Their training being very thorough and the equipment innovative. Tympa offer a unique 'remote review',wherby I can send high resolution images and videos to their own team of Audiologists and ENT specialists for support & guidance should I need it.

Some wax serves a purpose in keeping them clean and healthy. However, excess wax can build up whether to the individuals make up, use of cotton buds, in-ear headphones and frequent exposure to loud noise ( music/machinary etc).

Excessive build up of ear wax can lead to a number of problems:

  • Increased risk of ear infections
  • Hearing loss causing social isolation
  • Reduce efficiency of hearing aids
  • Tinnitus/Whooshing/Ringing in ears
  • Cause discomfort/ear fullness
  • Balance issues and vertigo
  • Increased risk of falls and injury
  • And even dementia
